In 1923 the tradition of rose giving was expanded to include the ladies giving the men a book on Sant Jordi’ s day.  April 23 also is the anniversary of both William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes death.

Sant Jordi’ s day is not an official public holiday in Catalonia, but everyone, after work, gets to relax on this spring day…. a tradition on Sant Jordi is to walk down the famous Les Rambles in Gothic quarter wich is completely packed, but  you don’ t need to go to Les Rambles to find roses, there will be flower booths everywhere in Barcelona….

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló,  the masterpiece by Antoni Gaudi  was  built between 1904 and 1906 at the request of the textile industrial Josep Batlló. It’ s a true masterpiece wich seduces visitors by its exceptional design, its refined succession of artistic colour and light: the Gaudi’s modernist language.

Casa Batlló is located in the famous “Passeig de Gracia” in the heart of Barcelona and is easily accesible by public transportation and by the tourist buses. The building is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Barcelona.
